A young people led tour of ARTIST ROOMS: Robert Mapplethorpe
Join young people from the Sefton Youth Voice and New Beginnings group for an alternative tour of the Robert Mapplethorpe exhibition. The group will discuss their first interpretations of the artist’s work and how the topics raised in this work still relate to issues around gender, identity and self-expression today.
Selfhood is a new young people led photography programme delivered by New Beginnings LGBTQ+ Sefton group and Cultural partners Open Eye Gallery & The Atkinson.

Open Eye Gallery staff have been working with in house photographers in residence, Andy Yates. Liz Wewiora has been working The Atkinson and young people from Sefton to programme a series of interactive tours, workshops and responsive photography projects both on & off-site. All of these events respond to the current Mapplethorpe ARTIST ROOMS exhibition and the young people involved will take the lead in delivering sessions to other young people and the general public.
