Colin Binns: Drawn Into Colour
Colin’s artwork captures an immediacy of time and place, brought into life through his vibrant paintings and drawings. In this exhibition you will see atmospheric and characterful townscapes as well as colourful semi abstract compositions, all drawn from his exploration of the urban spaces of our towns and cities. Much of his inspirational material emerges from the differing experiences found in the towns of the north west coast, contrasting the exuberant character of the holiday resorts with the rich architecture of the ports. A comment in a recent gallery review was ‘once you see his work it will take over all your senses’.
Meet the Artist
Saturday 16 July, 1pm -3pm, drop in event
An opportunity to explore this exhibition alongside the artist, who will talk about the ideas that stimulate his work, as well as describing some of his working methods. He’ll also talk about his development as an artist following his earlier career as an architect. He felt that the architectural design process often lacked the use of colour and when he left the profession in 1993 he used every opportunity to explore colour through his artwork. The artworks in the exhibition aim to capture an immediacy of time and place, brought into life through vibrant paintings and drawings. Alongside atmospheric and characterful townscapes there are colourful semi abstract compositions, many drawn from his exploration of the urban centres of our towns and cities.
