Hello and welcome to The Atkinson’s exciting programme for families, music lovers, culture buffs and art enthusiasts alike.

This season we launch a new programme of immersive Theatre. Based on the satirical 1928 novel by Virginia Woolf, Orlando (16 Oct) is the life-affirming, comedic tale of an immortal poets exploration of human identity. Jane Eyre (8 & 9 Nov) is Charlotte Brontë’s moving and unforgettable portrayal of one woman’s quest for equality and freedom. Charles Dickens’ infamous ghost story A Christmas Carol (7 Dec) is brought alive in a traditional production, complete with period costume and a musical score.

Guaranteed to make you laugh, the first comedian ever to win Britain’s Got Talent, Lost Voice Guy: I’m Only in It For The Parking (9 Oct) combines the political and personal with razor-sharp observations about disability and daily life. Jon Culshaw & Bill Dare: The Great British Take Off (16 Nov) present an evening of unscripted comedy as politicians, sports personalities and celebs are all up for a roasting!

Our fifth annual Big Blues Festival (11 & 12 Oct) returns, join us as we celebrate rock, rhythm and blues! The first major female star of the 80’s, Hazel O’Connor: Hallelujah Moments (13 Nov) is an award-winning singer-songwriter. The History of Rock (30 Nov) propel you back to the best days of music in a celebration of the very best of classic rock.

In October Half Term, Magicians Morgan & West: Unbelievable Science (29 Oct) present an interactive science show for the whole family, where real experiments take place right before your eyes. The Great Christmas Sleigh Ride (13-18 Dec) is a fun-filled, sing-along, interactive festive show for 2-6 year olds. Each child will meet Santa and receive a special Christmas gift!

‘Tis the season to be jolly and we have some great night’s out in December. Catch up with the nation’s favourite rag-and-bone-men in Christmas with Steptoe and Son (5 Dec). A favourite with work Christmas Parties, LOL Comedy Club (7 Dec) offer a raucous evening of entertainment. Groups of 10+ can book for a discounted rate. In Chris Difford: Christmas Shopping (13 Dec) the Squeeze co-founder and double Ivor Novello Award winning lyricist tells stories and sings songs from his colourful career. The Albion Christmas Band (14 Dec) return with their seasonal show featuring Simon Nicol (Fairport Convention), Kellie While (Albion Band) Simon Care (Edward II) and Ashley Hutchings.

Our award-winning café A Great Little Place is offering delicious pre-show meals ahead of Dead Men’s Eyes (31 Oct), Oysterband & June Tabor ‘Fire & Fleet’ Tour (31 Oct), The Body Snatcher (16 Nov), Jon Culshaw & Bill Dare: The Great British Take Off (16 Nov) and Chris Difford: Christmas Shopping (13 Dec).

The Atkinson’s shop supports artist from across the borough. Pick up unique gifts and meet local artists in our Local Makers Craft Fairs (26 Oct, 30 Nov, 7 Dec). We also sell gift cards for our performing arts programme.
