Hello and welcome to The Atkinson’s winter guide.

As the festive season is fast approaching, we are so excited to bring another magical family pantomime to Southport, Aladdin! (8-31 Dec). Starring TV and film sensation Pasty Kensit alongside a talented cast plus great singalong songs, dazzling dance routines and comedy in abundance. If you ask your genie for just one wish this year, make it a trip to see Aladdin!

The family fun doesn’t stop there! We ask if there is Room On The Broom (11-12 Nov) for everyone in a fun-filled adaptation of the best-selling picture book. Rapunzel (25 Oct) and I Spy With My Little Eye (26 Oct) are great introductions to live theatre for little ones and make a fabulous family day out.

We look forward to welcoming the stage show of Helen Forrester’s million-selling autobiography, Twopence To Cross The Mersey (1-4 Nov). Telling the story of a local woman’s brutal childhood during the early 1930’s in the midst of the Great Depression. This brand new production is not to be missed. Theatre at its finest right here in Southport.

Music fans rejoice as Abbamania (28 Oct), GO NOW! The Music of The Moody Blues (17 Nov), and The Ultimate Boyband Party Show (26 Nov) will have you dancing in the aisles and singing at the top of your lungs.

Tickle your funny bone with Hal Cruttenden: It’s Best You Hear It From Me (Fri 18 Nov). The fickle finger of fate has turned the Live at the Apollo star’s life upside down, but he is sticking a finger right back at it.

In our museums and galleries, guest curator Nahem Shoa displays Unselfish Selfie (from 8 Oct) which reflects on artist’s desire to paint themselves. Our free lunchtime talk Why do artists paint themselves? (9 Nov) delves deeper into that question. Check our listings for more upcoming talks from expert guest speakers across the season.

Did you know that November marks the hundredth anniversary of Howard Carter opening the tomb of Tutankhamun? To celebrate such a special anniversary, we are hosting several Egyptology events in our museum across the month! Keep an eye on our website and social media for upcoming dates for your diary.

With all this and so much more, we hope you find something to enjoy, and we look forward to welcoming you back to The Atkinson.
