This November marks a decade since The Atkinson reopened its doors after undergoing a multi-million-pound restoration. In the past ten years, we’ve hosted over 3,000 events, sold more than 440,000 tickets, issued over one million books, and served over 38,000 ice creams! We are incredibly grateful for the tremendous support we have received during this time.
As we look ahead to the next ten years, we kindly ask you to consider becoming a Member. The Atkinson Development Trust support us through a range of donations, allowing us to use our remarkable building to benefit local communities and inspire future generations. From just £26 per year, Members enjoy a programme of exclusive events and discounts across The Atkinson. With your support, we make wonderful things happen.
In our museum and galleries explore a wide range of artwork and artefacts from our own collections, as well as exhibitions from contemporary artists. Discover stories from across Sefton and be inspired by the variety artworks on display. It’s all free too!
Laugh until it hurts with our comedy lineup! Suzi Ruffell: Snappy (26 Oct) and Sophie McCartney: Tired & Tested (27 Oct) share the challenges of over-thinking and perils of parenthood, whilst Mark Watson (17 Nov) is searching for the meaning of life. Eric Chapelle’s side-splitting comedy Ground Rules (05 Oct) is poignant, preposterous, and touching!
Families are at the heart of The Atkinson. Go on an underwater adventure in The Little Mermaid (24 & 25 Oct) and meet the characters after the show! Tom Fletcher’s interactive adventures are leaping from page to stage in There’s A Monster In Your Show (17 Nov). Regular free activities include Make It! craft workshops in the gallery and Construction Club in the library.
Live music for all tastes is in abundance. Highlights this season include Southport Blues, Rhythm and Rock Festival (28 Oct), a spectacular 8-piece band from Frankie: The Concert (24 Nov) and a journey back to the 90s with The Ultimate Boy Band Party Show (25 Nov).
The festive season is almost upon us (oh yes, it is!). Join us for Jack and the Beanstalk (7-31 Dec) starring Brookside’s beloved Dean Sullivan aka Jimmy Corkhill. Don’t miss the chance to boo and hiss at the evil giant and cheer on Jack in this fun-filled panto for all ages.
We look forward to welcoming you to The Atkinson!
