Share:

Grateful Fred’s have been pioneering Americana and Roots music in Formby, Southport and Liverpool since 2010 and during that time have presented some of the best US, Canadian and World artists.

On the first Wednesday of every month, join the Fredhead’s at The Atkinson for a wonderful night of live acoustic music.

The Club Night

7.30pm – White Little Lies
8.00pm – Danny Bradley
8.40pm – Interval
9.00pm – Stephen Fearing

Stephen Fearing

Stephen Fearing first performed for Grateful Fred at one of the Grateful Fred HOuse Concerts and absolutely blew away those of us lucky enough to the there. So it’s a real pleasure to be bringing Stephen back to Grateful Fred’s but this time to The Atkinson Studio.

Stephen’s music is a mesmerizing blend of roots, folk, and pop. Co-founder of Canadian roots-rock supergroup Blackie and The Rodeo Kings, he is a beguiling teller of tales and master guitarist who delights audiences throughout North America, the UK, and Europe. A multi JUNO and Canadian Folk Music award winner, his tenth solo album, Every Soul’s a Sailor, was named 2017 Worldwide Album of the Year by Blues & Roots Radio. In 2019 he released The Secret of Climbing, a limited edition, vinyl-only release that captures the subtle emotions of his mesmerizing voice and masterful guitar work in their purest form, unobscured by computers or studio wizardry.

Stephen Fearing is an alluring entertainer – heartbreaking, expansive, and full of mirth – with a clear, honourable voice that lifts you out into his wide world and “brings you back home to yourself.” Over the course of his celebrated career, he has collaborated with artists such as Bruce Cockburn, Roseanne Cash, Richard Thompson, Rose Cousins, Nick Lowe, Sarah McLachlan, Margo Timmins, Keb’ Mo’, Suzie Vinnick, and many more.

Winner of the Liverpool Acoustic Judges’ Award 2021, we are absolutely delighted to welcome Danny Bradley back to perform at Grateful Fred’s.

This will be Danny’s third time with us those of us who witnessed Danny’s first appearance will remember how blown away we were with Danny’s amazing musicianship on guitar and also his unique voice.

Danny is a finger-style guitarist and songwriter who has opened for Tony McManus, Martin Carthy and Jon Gomm. Born in the USA, but having grown up in the UK, Danny Bradley combines the careful storytelling of Folk Music with the impassioned singing & playing of the Blues.

Danny is currently touring his debut solo album, ‘Small Talk Songs’, which is available now.

Opening the show will be:

White Little Lies

Fredheads will need little introduction to Vanessa Murray, who performed for us earlier in the year, but regulate Grateful Fred audience members will know that along with her musical partner, Daniel Saleh, she is a member of one of the North West’s leading Americana duos. White Little Lies.

White Little Lies are part of the current crop of emerging Americana artists (think The Wandering Hearts, Ward Thomas, The Shires) mixing the best of country, pop and folk roots into a brand new stew (or ‘Scouse’ if you like!).

Sandie Shaw praised Vanessa’s musicality as “Astonishing” and Paul Carrack described her as a “Great New Artist”.

Daniel is a musician, guitar tutor, songwriter and session musician based in Liverpool who regularly tours around Europe and the UK working and performing with Liverpool pop icons, The Christians, including the prestigious Echo Arena.
