Jesse Terry
Whatever magic potion the troubadours in Laurel Canyon were sipping on in 1971, Jesse Terry has managed to track it down and take a deep gulp.
Now on his seventh album, “When We Wander”, Terry performs his beautifully crafted songs to around 150 audiences a year from Bonnaroo to the Philadelphia Folk Festival, the 30A Songwriters Festival to Americana Fest.
Recorded live, “When We Wander” prioritises emotion and raw performances over perfection.
‘In Spite of You’ recalls his stay in a residential facility for behaviour modification that traumatized him as a young teenager: “The sermons that you sold me all were fakes.”
Yet he emerged to earn a degree from Berklee College of Music, net a five-year staff writer gig on Nashville’s Music Row penning material for major TV networks, and win prestigious songwriting awards.
And then to become the singer-songwriter his countless fans know today, who (in the words of Music News Nashville) “bring[s] to mind iconic artist/poets like Paul Simon and Jackson Browne…. [with] a performance that touches the heart as only a whisper can”.
“It is easy to compare Terry’s heritage and storytelling to that of Jackson Browne, James Taylor or Bruce Springsteen.. A symphonic delight for the heart and soul.”
~ Americana UK
“9 out of 10. Each track on this new album is an absolute delight”
~ FATEA
“…the highest compliment I can offer. One of the year’s best for sure”
~ Americana Highways
“Terry essentially re-writes the book on how to strip back your sound and sound incredible in the process”
~ Maverick Magazine

White Little Lies
We are excited to welcome Vanessa and Daniel of White Little Lies back to Grateful Fred’s. They first played for us in 2018 supporting Lynne Hanson. Since then they have gone from strength to strength with their close harmonies and great songwriting.
White Little Lies are part of the current crop of emerging Americana artists (think The Wandering Hearts, Ward Thomas, The Shires) mixing the best of country, pop and folk roots into a brand new stew (or ‘Scouse’ if you like!).
Their debut EP ‘Parallel’ (2019) was recorded by hit producer Tony Draper and has received support from BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing, UK Country Radio and Country Hits. The release was launched at a sold-out show inside Liverpool’s world-famous Parr Street Studios.
If you haven’t seen and heard White Little Lies before then you are in for a real treat.
