Plan your School visit

There is no parking on site, but there is a coach drop off point 100 yards from the main entrance. Coaches can then be parked in the Park and Ride Car Park. There are a number of car parks in and around the town and free street parking after 6pm. More information can be found on our getting here page.

Volunteer & Self -Led Visits

If you are bringing a group to visit The Atkinson please contact in advance to let us know of your planned arrival. Due to limited space in some areas of our building, groups who have not booked in advance may not be able to enter our museum and galleries. Self led tours are free. For Volunteer led tours there is a  suggested donation  of £1 per child.

The building itself is fully accessible with lifts and rails throughout. We have accessible toilets on all floors, as well as full adult changing facilities on the first floor. For more information about accessibility in and around The Atkinson, please click here.

Disabled Parking

There are two disabled parking bays at the front of the building. These are allocated on a first come first served basis. You must display a blue badge when parking in these bays. Access to these bays is via an intercom controlled entrance on Lord Street opposite Christ Church. Once you have parked you will need to obtain a badge from reception to display in your car alongside your blue badge.
