Grateful Fred’s: Americana & Roots Music
Share:

Grateful Fred’s have been pioneering Americana and Roots music in Formby, Southport and Liverpool since 2010 and during that time have presented some of the best US, Canadian and World artists.

On the first Wednesday of every month, join the Fredhead’s at The Atkinson for a wonderful night of live acoustic music.

The Club Night

7.30pm – The Silver Freds
8.00pm – The Jesse Janes
8.40pm – Interval
9.00pm – Brooks Williams & Aaron Catlow

Brook Williams & Aaron Catlow

We are absolutely delighted to welcome back, for the third time, the brilliant Brooks Williams and Aaron Catlow.

Regular “Fredheads” will know just how good our two previous evenings with Brooks and Aaron were and, with the release of their brand new CD album, “Greens and Blues” we know that we’ll be in for a real treat. For those who are new to the music of Brooks and Aaron here’s a little of what you can expect…

Brooks Williams & Aaron Catlow create joyous and virtuosic music that not only tugs at the heartstrings but also gets you up on your feet.

Americana UK writes, “How such a complete and sensational sound can come from just two voices and instruments is awe-inspiring.”

The two have literally been wowing audiences at venues and festivals like St David’s Hall, Lichfield Guildhall, Folk In A Field Festival, Cumberland Arms, Ely Festival, The Folk House and Grateful Fred’s at The Atkinson, to name but a few.

Cambridge UK-based, Statesboro, Georgia US-born guitarist, singer and songwriter Brooks Williams is admired by both listeners and fellow musicians, and has been a leading light on the acoustic music scene for three decades. “He was playing Americana before it had been given the name” (CMP).

Brooks’ guitar skills are evident as he effortlessly slides in and out of folk, blues and country. It comes as no surprise he is listed in the “Top 100 Acoustic Guitarists”.

Aaron Catlow is half of the Bristol-based duo “Hawes And Catlow”, with guitarist-singer Kit Hawes. He is also the fiddler in UK festival favourite “Sheelanagig”. Catlow’s other credits including playing with Grammy Award-nominated “Yola”, “Mad Dog Mcrea” and “Afro Celt Sound System”.

The Jesse Janes perform their own original songs as well as adding their own spin on a variety of well-known and well-loved artists.

The band have played to audiences from Liverpool to Norway, Ireland to Italy and all points in between. It will be great to have them back at Grateful Fred’s.
